Well, I'm getting really excited about the Joint Meetings this year again. I start classes that week, but I am hoping one of the profs I am sort of TAing for will be kind enough to let me do my thing on Friday for a while, I will probably just be a little late to her class.
There are some interesting stories posted on the Young Mathematicians Network site that I think might be of interest to some of you.
One of the stories quickly outlines all of the YMN events at the Joint Meetings, a must-print for those of you who will be attending all of those events ;) *hint* *hint*
Another story gives 5 Great Reasons to attend the 2006 Joint Meetings, these are not the only reasons to attend but are probably (*ahem*) the only ones the writer could think of at the time.
There is a great story about job interviews called "Notes from the other side of the table at the Joint meetings" that I think is a must-read for just about everyone actually. I think it contains some good common-sense advice that we all need repeated every once in a while.
Well, that's my plug for YMN for now. If you have never surfed the site a little, I would recommend it. It's a growing organization trying to express concerns of Young Mathematicians. How do we define young? We don't. Mathematicians, more than most people, should know that age ain't nothing but a number and we know how to manipulate numbers now don't we?
