My (and your) Google Page Rank

The wonders of the internet have found me a page that will give you
your google page rank

On the sidebar, I have put a little icon displaying mine. It's actually a pretty fun exercise to check out some of your favorite sites.

On my list of fun sites to check, some interesting ones that popped up:

The 10's (I found): Google and Apple
The 9's: MIT , Stanford , American Mathematical Society
The 8's: Mathematical Association of America , Ohio State University ,
The 7's: Firefox.com (while Mozilla's website is a 9)

Small U is a 6... while I sit at a 4. I think that's kinda sad.

But, I have my own arguments why most large universities have a higher ranking, because their internal pages rank so high that anything that links to them will, by virtue of being linked, also be high.

Let's imagine how much traffic the mainpage to a large universities site gets, or better yet - the registrar's or financial aid office gets.

So, build a website, have one popular page and a gazillion pages that link to that page and you could be a 7, 8, or 9 (reminds me of that corny "math" joke, I put math in quotation marks because you know that math people didn't make this up, why is 6 afraid of 7? Because 7, 8 (ate), 9... yeah yeah, I know I shouldn't have typed it).

if it makes you feel any better, my fiance's page got a zero too.

lots of people have zeros, so it's not a really big deal.
