Well, my battle with financial aid and the validation deadline is not over.
I was selected for verification AGAIN. Someone from fin. aid (I know exactly who it was too) gave me an extremely snarky phone call around lunch time and ruined the quality time I spent with my fiance and his friend. Within two hours of the call my fiance pulled enough strings for me to fax over verification paperwork (my taxes and the "verification worksheet" they have on the fin. aid website.
The thing that bothered me the most is that they lied to me. The lady on the phone gave me a small lecture about how I was supposed to find out that I had in fact been selected. "It's on the Department of Education website", well I checked the damn website and there is nothing that says anything about verification thank you very much.
If there's another college student out here reading this and thinking, "you stupid girl, the information can be found through the website in XYZ way by going through XYZ links" please respond in the comments or send me an e-mail and I will be glad to post an update.
But the fact of the matter is that the people at my fin. aid office think that students should serve them. I don't want you to think I feel entitled in any way here, I'm just saying that they are assholes and need to go to a customer service seminar or something. A really big life-changing customer service seminar.
So, if I don't validate by tomorrow (Wed.) by 5 PM, they will drop my classes, but my room will stay reserved. Everything will be relatively easy to get back, except my Religious Studies class.
Small U requires 2 Religious Study courses and I haven't taken any. So I'm taking Catholicism in the fall and probably World Religions or something I think is easy in the Spring.
That's all for now, I'm going to post more later about other idiosyncrasies of Small U in a while.
