Guestlist is Complete!

If I were a good singer, I'd sign Hallelulah from my computer chair - the wedding invitation list is done.

Well, that's how it seems. We finally got my fiance's parents to sit down and hammer out the complete list, and categorize it. They also finally realized how much it was going to cost and offered more money.

Here's the problem we were having with them:

First, they said they'd pay for half. Half is a very ambigious number,
don't you think? How much is half when we haven't set down a budget? They
thought we were being unreasonable with our choice of caterer, so we said,
"look..."

We set down the law, "look... it's hard to set down a budget,
period. Everyone else is helping out with XYZ element of the wedding, so we
thought that maybe since y'all think it's unreasonable to pay $13 per person for
all-you-can-eat Awesome BBQ. SO, why don't you set down a dollar figure
that you are willing to contribute?

They set down $3,000. Small victory
for us, I guess.

Then, today, because they want to be equalitarian, they
say, "we want to make a proposal, we'll pay for half again because more than
half the guest list is coming from us".

Do you have a twisted face look? Because I had a twisted face look, the kind of dumbfounded look you have when a hotdog stand ran out of hotdogs or something. Or when the ATM runs out of cash.

What do you mean more than half the guest list is coming from you guys?

So I started adding their names to my electronic guest list, a convenient feature that The Knot has on their website. The hall only has space for 250 people, with all of the side sections.

How many are on the list (only good news, A list and B list combined)??? 244. About 45 family members and 80-something people from their side.

How does my side get non-included in this venture? She figures that since I'm a native Californian and my father's side of the family still lives in California, together with all my Godparents and other people who raised me, no one from that side will come to my wedding.

What she doesn't realize is that, I go to school about an hour and a half away, that's not a lot for the profs. in my department to drive, they've been like an extended family to me (especially my advisor) and my mother's side of the family might be crazy enough to drive the 5 hours to come.

What a world... what a world...
