Time Lapse

I am waiting until 10 am CST before I do any of the real tasks I have to do today. What are you up to this week?

This past weekend we went to go visit my mom and there was a surprise (shock!) bridal shower. I really was taken aback, but I had an inkling that there was something like this planned. Everything went really well, there were lots of games, the food was great and my aunts were on good behavior.

My mother-in-law to-be was there and so was my sister-in-law to-be. They sat with one of my aunts and I was super surprised that she didn't tell them anything embarrassing or rash. They (my aunts) can be a pain.

All of my family is very spread out geographically. My dad's side of the family is in California (mostly) and my mom's side of the family lives (mostly) in Texas. Texas is a really big state and my fiance's family is concentrated mostly about 6 hours away from where my mom lives (on the way back, we made the drive in 4.15 hrs).

So it took a lot of early planning to get my mother-in-law and sister-in-law to be there (I should really use acronyms for them...).

I sent out about half of the invitations yesterday and want to send out the other half today, but have some work to do before I do that. I do not honestly think I will do these chores before the invitations because the invitations have been my first priority for the last couple of weeks and I finally have almost everything set up for them except for the personalized labels and letters (yes, letters in each invitation. Now you understand why it is taking me so long?).

I would like to also do some laundry and dishes today, but do not know if that will get done. My fiance's family has a tendency to let the dishes pile up and only do them about once a day, but at the rate that me and my fiance use dishes we only get to it about once every so often (whenever we run out of essential utensils or dishes). Right now I think we don't have any spoons, knives, bowls and dishes. So we really need to do dishes.

But the laundry machines at the apartment complex we live at are super expensive so we like to do laundry at his parents house and he ran out of socks. If we don't get to doing laundry then he'll be wearing dirty socks for a while, which is not good because socks smell and I do not like it when he smells (who likes that?). The thing is, and I do not believe all guys are like this, he does not say "I need clean shirts" or "I ran out of clean socks" but will continue to use the dirty stuff until we do laundry.

For the last month and then some his parents' dryer has been broken. They got a new one but his dad messed up when he installed it and they barely fixed it sometime last week. Since we were getting ready for the trip to my mom's house then we did not get to do laundry there. This week would be a perfect time to do laundry (especially since the clothes I was going to wear to the showers [plural!] is dirty).

There are 2 showers for our wedding being held this week. I asked that they be held closely together so my mom could come to both of them. One is for Friday and the other is for Saturday. This will be interesting... I asked that my fiance's mom stop looking at our registrys because she has been checking them (very OCD) just about every day. I made the analogy of going to a birthday party and knowing what all the presents will be before they are opened. She agreed to stop looking, but that is the same thing she said the last time I asked her to stop looking. I told her, "pardon me if I don't believe you". I really hope she stops looking.

The main reason, I think, I am asking her not to look is because it makes me want to look and I really did not want to look anymore at what people are getting us. I had complained in a previous post (cannot find the post, so if anyone can please contact me and I'll post the link) about being afraid people were not going to buy anything on the registry.

I am now very shocked at how many people are buying from the registry (only 1 of them, the other was about blank the last time I looked on it). I never said I wanted big ticket items, just useful ones. That is why I am glad people are getting us things like napkin holders and trivets, because I see us using those things. But we will see how things are going in a while. I have to get going for now, lots of work to do today. I must at least sort the clothes we have that are dirty so we can put 2 loads of laundry in (we limit ourselves to doing 2 loads on any "laundry day" so his parents will not freak out when we go with so much laundry :D). Cross your fingers that all other invitations go out today. Anyone *ahem* who has asked about their invitation should know that their invite has been sent and is in the mail.

What are you guys up today? Just because I'm snoopy.
