In elementary school I ran for Student Body President. The speech that I had written was actually really cool, but I lost it and someone found it on the playground. Then the person who ran against me used the beginning of my speech and beat me. I was pissed that they stole the beginning of my speech, which was a play off of "4 score and 7 years ago..." from Abraham Lincoln.
I did not run for another student office like that until... well, I never ran for another student government position that wasn't some type of representative. I always got elected to be some type of representative, which I usually take very seriously, but no more big political office uptakes for me.
More recently, in the last 3 years or so, I have been my school's Math Society president, but that seems much more small scale to me. I also had been the Student Government Representative for some time and have served on various committees, but nothing that big.
