Teeth, Tests and Tribulations

Grrrrr... I'm so mad at myself for listening to people that I knew had a biased opinion. My fiance's cousin is a Dental Assistant/Office Manager and does Teeth Extraction on fridays (why only on Fridays? Because she works as a Dental Assistant/Office Manager every other day of the week...) so you can guess she was concerned when she learned my wisdom teeth were coming out.

She referred me to this place, let's call it teeth for money (I do not know if such place exists, but you'll see why I called it that), where they pay you to try experimental pain-killers after getting your wisdom teeth removed. They have other studies too, but they are known in the area for wisdom teeth removal. She's known people who have gotten $800 and people who have gotten $2,000, it sure beats having to pay someone to do it.

She called me in on Thursday, I called in on Friday, we still haven't heard from them (so much for their "we'll get back to you within 48 hours" policy), she called twice again yesterday because they aren't responding to any of her messages and she regularly sends people over there. It would just be nice if they said they were full if they are, because otherwise I'm just waiting and waiting with my teeth in a lot of pain while time is not on my side and it gets closer and closer to the subject tests...

So I have 2 finals on monday of next week and if I can convince a teacher to give me an "I" because I just can't take it anymore for this semester, then I don't have any other finals for next week and can get the procedure done whenever I want. At the end of that week is when I'll be taking the GRE subject test, on Saturday, and I'm not prepared. I'll be going over material like crazy starting Tuesday. I also have a research paper due on Friday of this week which is totally out of wack and not close to finishing, oh well.

There are just a LOT of things going on right now, some of which if I had been wise about I could have avoided. End of the semester crunch I'd say, let's hope I survive.

Mostly I just want the semester to be over so I can breath. I have a lot of things to do in terms of my graduate school applications and I'd like to get most of that stuff out of the way as soon as possible before we leave for the break. I know some, or most of it, I can get done by myself without anyone else's help, so that's good I guess. Wish me luck as I go into the home stretch of all of my applications and all of my coursework.

Good luck to all the other academians, and good luck to everyone else at work and while trying to shop for Christmas presents or anything else. Even if you expect to do light shopping for bare necessities, malls and other stores are a gruesome marketplace to be in right now. Stay safe and I'll be posting much later about how everything went and all the other drama in my life. ;).
