Purse Follies

Today I was going to make my purse, my very own purse, for the very first time.

I don't sew by trade, and I'm kind of glad now.

There isn't much room in the apartment, at least not enough to lay out fabric and cut things correctly... So while I'm still kind of excited about my new purse and what it could mean for me, I won't be holding my breath until I move in to the dorms for the fall semester.

I've got an idea, a very interesting one actually. Comment about what you think about this. I will make matching purses for each of my bridesmaids for the wedding. While they might not be wearing the exact same dress (I'm still debating about this), they will have the same purse. :D.

[Actual Incident]
I'm not too familiar with sewing patterns and sewing jargon, and I was kind of wondering "how do I get the pattern from the paper to the fabric?" I created a lined paper version of the pattern, and then gave up when I was cutting one of them and it ripped in half due to paper consistency (I'm not dealing with the best lined paper in the world here). Then I talked to my old/current supervisor at work (I had to beg for my job back, more on that later) and she informed me that I had to cut the pieces from the pattern and then apply them to the paper and cut. *hits head* doh!
[/Actual Incident]

Now we see why I don't sew for a living.
