Last night, instead of getting home from eating Vietnamese food and playing games, I filed papers.
I don't know why I filed papers, but I just did. I'm making folders for prospective grad school programs, and even non-prospective ones. It's counter-productive to make ones I won't need, but right now I feel the need to file the papers away. I figure that maybe I can talk the math department into making a folder so students who are interested in grad school can flip through and find information about the program of their interest.
The more and more I throw names around in my head, the more and more I'm turned off by the process that is applying for graduate school. I see it as this huge thing that I'm supposed to be e-mailing professors and grad students and department secretaries about while reading about a million pages a day.
Some of the stuff I've read/heard about in terms of the application process sounds like a nightmare, the ideal situation is never going to be something that will hit me.
Funny thing, there are more helpful books out there for planning a wedding than for applying to graduate school... Just thought you ought to know. I, personally, am thinking about writing one, just for kicks and to see who might buy it.
I would buy it, if it was cheap. Let's say $5-$15. If it made organizing information easier, don't you think you'd do it too? I mean, I can only speak on behalf of my own mathy experiences and provide information useful to math-type people, but I think there are enough of us to generate a revenue.
Not always in it for the buck, but for putting this much time into it - there's got to be some reward. I might not honestly sell it, but it'd be nice to have my name on a book cover. ;).
