Wow... it's been a long weekend. So I'm back on Monday (today is Monday, right?). I've been out and about this weekend.
My fiance and I went to Houston this weekend for the Magic: The Gathering Regional competition. There were 2 chances to make it into the 5K competition, a 5K qualifier or 1st at Regionals. A side note here, my fiance thinks it's funny how 1st-4th place at regionals go to NATIONALS while only 1st place gets to qualify for the 5K... I'll have to admit, the irony is there.
But anyways. Ever since our trip to Waco to the 5K qualifier a couple of weeks ago, I have been contemplating selling things on ebay. Yes, I'm looking to expand my horizons, take a bit of time out on alternating weekends maybe and sell Magic cards on ebay. It's evil, I know. But I'm poor, none-the-less.
Ok, I'm not poor per se, but I am totally broke. With a little bit of starter cash, I think I could do well with an ebay business.
Some assembly is required, of course, but it could work well in the end. Only before graduate school of course.
We went to Bennigan's while in Houston. I've been to Bennigan's before in my home town, I could swear they have "Irish Fries", but I was wrong. At least for this one. I'm thinking about french fries with cheese and bacon smothered all over them (think: Smothered Fries) and then Ranch Dressing on the side. Doesn't that sound lovely? It has heart burn written all over it.
But this Bennigan's proved me wrong.
I have been trying drinks almost everywhere we go, to figure out what kind of taste I like.
Although some of them are great, overall - I do not like Margaritas. I should have figured this out at my fiance's graduation party where the Margaritas had, what I thought was, too much alcohol. This might be just them, or it might be a conspiracy against me. If you ever get a chance, try the Margaritas at Outback Steakhouse. I really liked the one they gave me. Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly which one it is.
On my 21st, my fiance and I went to Applebee's and I had a Mudslide. Ever since my friends and I started frequenting Applebee's for Karoekee, I've wanted a Mudslide, it looks so beautiful and yummy. I was right, I liked it. Thank goodness for Ice Cream and Kalhua.
My brother told me to try a Martini, particularly a Cosmopolitan. I wanted to, but no, I was swayed by others at the table and decided to try the Chocotini, or something to the effect of Chocolate + Martini, needless to say - I hated it.
I'm not a fan of dark chocolate. Give me milk chocolate any day and I'll be happy. Dark chocolate is another story. But they told me, you should send it back and ask the waitress to give you another drink that you might enjoy.
Now, although I didn't like the drink, I wasn't too happy about THAT suggestion. I never liked sending food back, or drinks, even when it was flat soda. I usually grin and bear it. I never complain. At least I didn't complain to waitresses, until that night.
My "friend" told the waitress I didn't like the drink and we began to discuss what I should have instead. I told her the chocolate wasn't to my taste. Anyone who knows beans about chocolate will tell you that dark chocolate and milk chocolate are different. If they don't tell you this, they are sadly mistaken and their taste buds need to be checked for consistency.
She snapped at me when I suggested a Mudslide.
Every restaurant is different, and not all bartender's are going to make drinks the same way. But I've had positive experiences with Mudslides 100%, Margaritas not so much. With Margaritas I've had a 20% win rate. One out of five will make me happy, I don't like many margaritas. The Outback Steakhouse Margarita is a rarity, in my book. So why did I follow her suggestion and order the margarita, I do not know.
For the rest of the evening, I did not speak to her and felt she was very very rude. My fiance left a $1 tip.
I used to wait. I know it's hard to be a waitress. But if you are picking up plates, don't miss or avoid someone, eventually ask them. She never asked to pick up my plate. She never asked me if I needed something else. She chatted it up with the other people at the table, why confront me?
I should have left the alcohol alone.
Tell me what you think about ebay.
- V.
